He said the project was being launched before Eid-ul-Fitr in provincial metropolis with the co-operation of British doctors.
He was giving briefing to the mediamen regarding relict activities in Punjab for earthquake affectees at the Chief Minister's House here on Sunday.
Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi said that central office of Support-a-Family Programme initiated by the Punjab government had been set up at the Chief Minister's House and he would personally supervise the project, adding that offices of the programme would also be established at Islamabad, NWFP and Kashmir.
He said that with the co-operation of National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra), a system would be evolved to make liaison between sponsors and the families they were supporting.
He appealed to the mediamen, writers, poets and intellectuals to cooperate in the promotion of 'Support-a-Family Programme'.
Answering a question, Pervaiz Elahi said the Punjab government had offered federal government to support 500 children, adding that out of those, 200 children would be kept at Rawalpindi, 200 at Lahore and 100 in other parts of the province.
